The stereotypes that often come with doing a solo activity whether if it’s a quick assumption or a total misjudgment, you’re lonely. But what if you aren’t?
A person can be alone without feeling lonely; Loneliness is that feeling which strikes you out of nowhere while sitting with a group of people, it’s your scars and your 3 AM thoughts; It’s the urge to keep everything buried down cause you might just feel that not a single person is special enough to share things with. Loneliness might become a weight that you carry after the loss of someone; it’s the feeling that something’s always missing. While being alone is a positive self-construction that proves to you that you are not lonely.
You feel like taking a walk all by yourself, watching movies by yourself, discovering a new hobby to enjoy by yourself. It’s doing activities by yourself for yourself. Being alone is a state of being; While being lonely is a state of mind.
Solitude in one sentence can be referred to as being alone without the sense of being lonely. Simple, isn’t it?
Solitude, from a new perspective, can be seen as a ray of light at the end of a dark tunnel. It’s the peace of mind that comes with self-appreciation to know when exactly to take a break. Your life can sometimes be mentally, emotionally, socially and professionally busy; Solitude is the equivalent of your lunch break; Only it’s not for lunch, it’s for your life balance.

When you’re a part of a group, you go along with the group. You think with your group to come with a common idea to break. But wouldn’t you think differently if you were ought to do something by yourself? Something that might not be appealing to your people. These are the things that define you; How you like to smell, the passion you have about something in specific, how you like to take a day out, the path you chose for your future, just your own ways to live.
It’s good to have someone to spend a night out with, to talk and laugh with, to make so many memories with. But don’t you ever forget that you are your longest friendship.
Are you a party animal? A bookworm? Do you plan to take a step forward towards your dreams? What are your dreams? Do you even know? Do you want to know?
When you take time to deal with your own thoughts, you can understand more about who you are and what you desire in life, you can make better choices about who you want to be surrounded with.
Falling in love can be addictive, you can always seek more moments with someone that you love. Or even seek the joy in a friends night out more than doing things by yourself, but when you spend time with yourself, you also may come to appreciate your relationships more after you’ve spent some time alone.

Constant tasking and interacting doesn’t give your brain a time to rest. By spending more time by yourself cutting off more distractions, you have a good chance to clear your mind. It’s an opportunity to revitalize your mind and body at the same time.
As I mentioned cutting off more distractions, it’s no magic that you have a better concentration which leads to the increasement of the positivity and the efficiency of your accomplishments; Hence, productivity.
- Disconnect. Turn off your cell phone, turn off your internet, turn off your TV. Be more creative, think and do your researches about hobbies and activities that suit your personality. Go out and make things happen.
- Wake up early. Earlier than the rest of the house, earlier than your friends. Take that time to think about your day and how you can get the most and the best out of it. Make a schedule or a shortlist of what needs to be done. Free today? It’s your lucky day; it’s the day you treat yourself with a nice walk or getting ice cream. Go to new places, listen to your playlists at a park, or don’t. It’s your own time anyway.
- You’re good enough by yourself. You need no approval. You are by yourself because it’s a choice, and it feels good.
- Appreciate the silence. The world is a busy place unless you take a moment and step back for a while. It’s easy to forget how nice it is to simply sit alone and enjoy your own company. Sit around and listen to everything that is not happening around you.
- Cherish every interaction. Time alone is important. Time alone is peaceful. Time alone is beautiful; But so is time spent with others. There is no such thing as a boring person or a situation. If you’re ever bored, it’s because you’re not paying attention. This is a problem with you, not with your surroundings. Listen closely to what people have to say, take an interest in every thinking mind interacting with yours. Try to understand them as a person; you’ll find a way to be understood.
